HOW

Ongoing design-science study

Bio-brick grown from household organic waste.

What if household organic waste was commonly seen as a renewable resource instead of waste? What if it was valuable and we could benefit from it?

HOW is an ongoing design-science collaboration and a renewable biomaterial. The biobased and biodegradable material is set as a social catalyst, something that people can involve with. The study looks at ways in which organic waste can be repurposed significantly with the help of communities. It also explores how different ways of working together as a humanity could rewire our vision and place within the natural world.

What could the world look like if biotechnology would be the craft of future communities? This audio tries to paint a picture of what it would be like if biotechniques such as the HOW grown material would be what everybody does.
